FRISSON is pleased to present A YEAR FROM GENESIS, a performance series and a reunion group show organized on the occasion of the gallery’s 1 year anniversary. While the concept of FRISSON was born from a Lower East Side Craigslist listing, 141 Attorney Street, in turn, has had many past lives as a laundromat, as a different gallery, and as a test kitchen. On April 7, the keys unlocked 141 Attorney Street. After a whirlwind renovation period, FRISSON opened in May of 2025. That was 6 shows, 22 artists, and many events ago. 

A Year from Genesis considers the totality of FRISSON in miniature, a diorama of the year at 141 Attorney Street. All 22 visual artists shown in year 1 were invited to contribute a small-scale work. Of the call, 19 artists were available to return. This recursive endeavor fills the gallery with artists who came before, often with work they are doing now. Following the spirit of FRISSON’s commitment to performance, throughout the month, the gallery space will be activated by events. 

To look back is to be human. It is a reflex in service to our best selves; the ability to commune with others, to slow down, and to reflect. Returning to the start brings a better understanding of where we find ourselves today and tomorrow. To affirm and answer–yes, again.
